Wayne County and the local cities are actively involved in recycling. In addition to the county landfill in Dudley, Wayne County residents can take their recyclable items to the same 13 centers where they take their household refuses. There are special bins at the centers for paper (just about everything except wax paper), #1 and #2 plastics, aluminum and metal cans, glass, used motor oil and batteries. There are also bins for old eyeglasses and clothes. Large appliances such as stoves and refrigerators can be taken to the landfill.
